A Breakthrough for the Community: Thryve Wellness Launches New Psychiatry Program in Brooklyn
In a major step forward for addressing mental health needs within the community, Thryve Wellness, in collaboration, with MedCare LLC, the licensed medical provider, has opened a new psychiatry clinic in the heart of Williamsburg. The new facility is designed specifically to serve members of the community in New York with culturally sensitive, accessible, and confidential care.
Thryve Wellness was founded several years ago by a group of community members who recognized the urgent need for a comprehensive, community-based mental health agency. Their goal was to help individuals access care and address mental health challenges early, to avoid unnecessary suffering, and prevent crises before they develop.
The Williamsburg clinic is part of a broader network of mental health initiatives Thryve Wellness is working on developing across the community, aimed at creating coordinated, accessible support at every stage of community need.
Operating with the highest level of confidentiality, Thryve Wellness has already earned a strong reputation among community leaders and organizations.
The organization’s mission is clear: to help prevent crises before they occur by identifying concerns early and connecting individuals with timely, appropriate care. Thryve Wellness focuses on reducing common barriers to treatment, such as long wait times, high costs, and limited access to specialists. Through the new program, patients can typically be connected with care within 24 hours of their initial call, and services are structured to accept all major insurance plans in order to keep care accessible.
Thryve Wellness works closely with dozens of well-known community organizations, including Hatzalah, Shomrim, Bikur Cholim, Bonei Olam, and many others across the Greater New York area. These partnerships help ensure that individuals receive coordinated support while remaining connected to their families and communities.
Recognizing that mental health is deeply connected to a person’s environment, Thryve Wellness places strong emphasis on collaboration with families, community leaders, and support networks, helping ensure that care is aligned with each individual’s circumstances and surroundings.
The newly opened Williamsburg location is dedicated to providing fast-access psychiatric services, including in-person visits and telehealth appointments. The goal, organizers say, is to make accessing psychiatric care as straightforward and approachable as visiting an urgent care center for an X-ray.
Leading the medical team is Dr. Leah Steinberg, a highly respected psychiatrist and professor who lives in Borough Park. Dr. Steinberg, who serves as Medical Director for the program, is widely known for her expertise and dedication in the field of mental health.
The official opening ceremony took place this past Sunday, February 8. The event was organized by noted therapist and community activist Volvy Freund, of Williamsburg, Director of Referrals at Reprieve Families and the organization Yatzliach. The gathering brought together representatives from numerous community organizations and leaders who work closely with Thryve Wellness.
Attendees expressed strong admiration for the organization’s efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration, emphasizing the importance of having a trusted, community-centered place to turn for mental health support.
