Andrew Yang to Launch a Third Party

Andrew Yang to Launch a Third Party

Andrew Yang, who came in fourth place when, just months ago, he ran to be the Democratic mayoral candidate of New York City: no longer considers himself a Democrat.

Yang, who also ran for the Democratic presidential nomination last year, now is set to launch a third political party next month, which is yet to be named, according to Politico.

The independent party hopeful is expected to set his new party into motion on Oct. 5, when he releases his new book, "Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy."

Although Yang has not outlined his new party’s priorities and agenda, his book’s publisher, Crown, provided a glimpse into the type of platform Yang may pursue.

Crown promoted Yang’s book as critical of America’s “era of institutional failure.”

Yang’s tome also will introduce “us to the various ‘priests of the decline’ of America, including politicians whose incentives have become divorced from the people they supposedly serve.”

Yang’s New York City mayoral campaign was similar to his US presidential campaign, in that he generated a lot of enthusiasm in some camps and surprised many in the political world with creative, outsider campaigns that ultimately did not translate into votes.
