Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein to Serve as NY State’s Assembly Assistant Majority Whip

Boro Park’s own Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein will serve as the NY state Assembly’s newest assistant majority whip, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie announced today on the opening day of the 2023 legislative session.

In his new role, Eichenstein will assistant fellow Brooklynite Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, who named the Assembly’s new majority whip: an influential position that brings the party's bills to the House floor and maintains communication between the leadership of the party and its members.

The majority whip also counts votes on key legislation and persuades members to vote for the party position.

 “I am proud to have appointed Assemblymember Simcha Eichenstein to serve as assistant majority whip for the Assembly Majority,” said Heastie. “Simcha is a valued member of the Assembly, and he will be an asset to our leadership team.”

Assemblyman Eichenstein said he will focus on bringing together New York’s diverse and multifaceted communities.

“I am honored to have been appointed as assistant majority whip, and I want to thank Speaker Heastie for entrusting me to carry out the duties of this position,” said Assemblyman Eichenstein. “As always, I am committed to advocating for my constituents who have put their trust and faith in me by giving me the privilege of representing them in this great chamber.
