Attorney General William Barr, Ally of Orthodox Jews, Announced His Resignation Today

      President Donald Trump just tweeted that William Barr has resigned his position as U.S. Attorney General.

   “Our relationship has been a very good one,” the president said. “He has done an outstanding job.”

   President Trump said that Barr will be leaving just before the end of the year to spend the winter holidays with his family.

   Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen, whom the president called “an outstanding person” will immediately become acting attorney general, and the “highly respected” Richard Donoghue will be taking over the duties of deputy attorney general, the president tweeted.

   Following the tragic rise in anti-Semitic attacks in Jersey City, Monsey, and Brooklyn last Chanukah, William Barr visited Boro Park, just to meet with Jewish leaders at the Boro Park Jewish Community Council (BPJCC), to show his support and how he could his position as U.S. attorney general to help Jews.

   At the BPJCC, Barr had said that he was “extremely distressed” about the recent acts of intimidation and violence against Jewish communities.

   In response, Barr said that federal authorities would more aggressively prosecuting hate crimes cases. In fact, Barr also said at the time that Hate Crime incidents would be prosecuted as federal offenses.

   “There would be no greater deterrent to hate crimes, than federal charges, which have hefty jail-sentences," Yeshiva World News said at the time, "much longer than NYC releasing suspects an hour later with no bail.”
