BDE: Mrs. Chava Schwartz, 101, Holocaust Survivor

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Chava Schwartz, a longtime Boro Park resident and Holocaust survivor. She was 101 years of age. 

The nifteres was born to her parents, Reb Shloime and Gittel Richter in Frebushan, Czekeslovakia. 

She spent the war years in Auschwitz, where she endured great horrors and lost her entire family to the Nazis, ym"sh. She would rarely speak about these horrors... it was simply too painful for her. 

She married Reb Moshe Ezriel Schwartz of Beregscasz in New York, and they settled in Crown Heights and later Boro Park. They were extremely close to Rav Rokeach, the Kozlover Rebbe, and they followed him to Boro Park, and davened in his shul all the years. 

The nifteres was known for her mesirus nefesh and tremendous stubbornness in keeping all the mitzvos that she could--in Auschwitz, and for her entire life. She always davening, and always, always saying tehillim. 

She loved her children and descendants, and she lived for them, relate her family members. 

The levaya will take place at Yereim Chapel in Williamsburg at 12:00 in the afternoon.
