BDE: Reb Baruch Yehuda HaKohen Rubin, z"l, 101 Years of Age
YS GOLD
We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Baruch Yehuda Rubin, a Holocaust survivor, and the proprietor of Grand Sterling silver store in Boro Park. He was 101 years of age, and was active until the last days of his life.
The niftar hailed from Besermin, Romania, and was a student of Rav Yehoshua Citron of Besermin.
But the encounter that changed his life was the brachah from the Ahavas Yisroel, Rav Yisroel of Viznitz, who blessed him with long life, which he indeed merited.
Arriving in America, he went into the silver business, and Grand Sterling became a household name in the Brooklyn Jewish community for fine silver pieces.
He resided on 51st Street, near the Slonimer shtiebel, and thus davened with the Slonimer chassidim. He would regale them with stories from the old home, and was a beloved figure among them. Being a kohen, he performed birchas kohanim until his last years.
The levaya will take place at 9:30 this morning at the Slonimer shtiebel.
Yehi zichro baruch.
