We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Reb Duvid Fleishman, z”l, a Holocaust survivor who dedicated his life to Torah, and was an instrumental personality in the building of Boro Park’s mikva’os. He was 96 years of age.
He was born in prewar Hungary and endured the Holocaust.
Following the war, he learned in Nitra, and remained a lifelong talmid of Rav Michoel Ber Weissmandl, zt”l. He became a great masmid, and at the end of his life he was always learning, and was a talmid chochom.
In the early years, when Boro Park was a fledgling community and building its mikva’os, Reb Duvid was the trusted confidante of the Rabbonim and Admorim to oversee the kashrus of the mikva’os. For more than half a century, he stood at the helm of three Mikva’os in Boro Park, ensuring their kashrus and their smooth functioning.
He was also an ardent Satmar chossid, beginning with the Dirvrei Yoel of Satmar, to the Beirach Moshe, and with today’s Satmar Rebbe, Rav Zalman Leib, shlit”a. He was an admired personality in Boro Park’s Satmar Batei Midrashim, and always had a ready smile, a witty remark and an encouraging word.
The levaya will take place this afternoon at 3:00 at the large Satmar Beis Medrash on 52nd Street.
Yehi zichro Baruch.
