Behind the Donut Scene at Weiss Bakery

By Toby Friedman

To many Chanukah is associated with celebration, family, and song. To some, it's linked with vacation and fun. Let's take a look and see what it means for the beloved Weiss Bakery.

Way before we excitedly sit down at our Chanukah parties, the workers at Weiss Bakery are deep at work producing tantalizing donuts and churros in a variety of flavors and colors.

Using special big machinery the bakery dishes out dozens of the Chanukah delicacies at once, ensuring the efficiency and everyday freshness of their donuts.

“We make our donuts and churros from scratch every day,” says Avrumi Weiss, the bakery’s owner. “Our donuts are different than most of the other ones people eat. It is more similar to the Israeli donut known as the sufganiyot.”

“A common complaint people make is that they eat a donut and it burns for eight days,” Avrumi remarks. “But with our donuts, you’ll have none of that as we use a special method ensuring that the donuts do not absorb as much oil”

At the end of each day, the Weiss Bakery products are sold for half price so that the following day a brand new batch of enticing donuts can be displayed for the eager customers coming to fetch their donuts.

This is just a sneak peek of what’s behind the scrumptious donut you will enjoy this Chanukah!
