Boro Park Man Escapes with Burns After Plane Catches Fire

A Boro Park man is lucky to be alive today after escaping the single-engine plane he was piloting. 

Shmuel Judkowitz of Boro Park was in landing his plane at the Linden Airport after a short journey around the area Sunday afternoon. As it was taxiing down the runway, it burst into flames. 

Emergency crews were immediately alerted, but Shmuel was lucky to get out on his own volition before rescuers arrived. 

He suffered some severe burns and was transported to St. Barnabas Medical Center which is in the area. 

The cause of the fire is unknown, and is being investigated by aviation authorities.
