Boro Park Resident Confirmed to Top Treasury Position

Boro Park - Moyshe Silk, a Boro Park resident and Nadvorna chassid, was confirmed on Tuesday to a top position in the U.S. Treasury Department, where he will oversee international markets.

Silk, who goes by the name Mitchell, was named assistant secretary to the Treasury by President Trump last year, had his confirmation hearing held up by successive crises, including a trade war with China.

Silk's expertise is in Chinese finance. He lived in Hong Kong for 15 years, speaks Mandarin and Cantonese, and is a frequent flier to East Asia.

Silk has spent the past year, since his appointment, commuting between Boro Park and Washington. He spends the week in his office in DC, and travels home to Boro Park for Shabbos.
