Boro Park Shmira Apprehends 3 Thieves in Moped Theft Crackdown
By BoroPark24 Staff
Over the past few weeks, there has been a noticeable spike in moped thefts targeting Jewish-owned restaurants and stores across Boro Park. In response, Boro Park Shmira increased patrols and vigilance in affected areas.
Thanks to their proactive efforts, Shmira members successfully apprehended three perpetrators involved in two separate theft attempts. The individuals were caught in the act and swiftly removed from the streets, putting a dent in the recent wave of moped thefts.
Shockingly, but perhaps not surprisingly, one of the individuals was found carrying a dangerous knife, adding to the seriousness of the incident.
Just last week, Shmira received a call from a local store on 14th Avenue reporting that a delivery bike had been stolen earlier that day. The Shmira surveillance team immediately sprang into action, tracking the suspect’s movements and providing a detailed description to the volunteers on patrol. Later, around 8 PM, two Shmira volunteers on patrol spotted a suspect matching the description, still in possession of the stolen moped. NYPD officers responded and placed the suspect under arrest at 58th Street and 13th Avenue. The stolen moped was returned to its grateful owner.
