Boro Park Shomrim Volunteer Returns $20K Ring to Grateful Owner

A Williamsburg resident is grateful to be reunited with a precious piece of jewelry this afternoon, following relentless work by Shloime Levy, a Boro Park Shomrim volunteer who did not stop the search until he finally located it.

BoroPark24 caught up with Mr. Levy, who at first could not talk; he was busy returning a $700 bike to another grateful Boro Park owner. Levy explained that Shomrim received the call on Sunday following Shavuos that a woman lost her ring in the vicinity of 55th Street and New Utrecht Avenue.

“They were obviously devastated, and I immediately got to work procuring camera footage from the area,” Shloimy recalls. “I noticed a man come off the train, and pick up the ring, and then followed him—through additional camera footage in the area—to a home where he worked as an attendant.

Ultimately, this process took more than two weeks of relentless sleuthing, but this Thursday afternoon, Shloimy knocked on the door, and quietly but firmly asked the man for the ring.

Which he promptly returned.
