BPJCC Opening Community Cooling Center During Heat Wave

By Y.M. Lowy

With the first major heat wave of the season arriving, BPJCC, in partnership with Metropolitan Commercial Bank, is opening the Community Center today and tomorrow as a cooling center for anyone needing a break from the heat.

From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., community members are invited to stop by the BPJCC Community Center at 5102 13th Avenue to cool off, relax in air conditioning, and enjoy cold drinks and water. Water coolers at the center are generously sponsored by Misaskim.

As temperatures climb, boro parkers are being encouraged to take a few minutes to call elderly parents, grandparents, neighbors, or anyone who may be alone during the heat and make sure they are doing okay. For those without proper air conditioning or anyone simply needing a comfortable place to spend a few hours, the BPJCC center is open and welcoming.

BPJCC specialists will also be available to help residents learn about community services and programs they may qualify for, including assistance through the Social Care Network program.
