Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and JCRC-NY CEO Mark Treyger visited Boro Park and Flatbush yesterday in anticipation of Chanukah.
He began his tour at Strauss Bakery and factory, where he had the opportunity to see the donut-making process firsthand. Reynoso enjoyed exploring how various styles of donuts are made and even rolled up his sleeves to pitch in, excited for the upcoming Chanukah celebrations.
Next, Reynoso visited the renowned Pivot Marketing office, where he met the creative minds behind some of the largest local marketing campaigns. He then continued his visit to Taam Eden Bakery to check on their Chanukah preparations.
Reynoso’s final BP stop was at the BoroPark24 offices, where he met the team behind the largest source of news in Boro Park. He expressed his admiration for the vibrant local economy in Boro Park, with its variety of stores and businesses thriving along the bustling streets. The Borough President shared his appreciation for BoroPark24’s professional coverage of the community’s happenings, highlighting the outlet’s role in reporting what’s important to residents and beyond, serving as a vital voice for the community.
From there, the Borough President headed to the nearby Flatbush area, visiting the Sesame local bakery to meet and greet shoppers. He emphasized the importance of engaging with the community, especially during the holiday season.
“In a borough as big as Brooklyn, nothing brings us together quite like the food that celebrates our heritage and traditions,” said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso. “Brooklyn is home to the largest population of Jewish people in the United States, and as Borough President, it is a great honor to celebrate the indelible contributions that the Jewish community has made to the culture of our borough by uplifting our small businesses and enjoying this culinary tradition. Thank you to Mark and JCRC for visiting Brooklyn’s bakeries with me, and thank you to the wonderful businesses that welcomed us with delicious sufganiyot. I wish all of our Jewish neighbors a very happy Chanukah and encourage all Brooklynites to enjoy sufganiyot from a local Jewish bakery this holiday season!”
“It was such a joy to go on this JAM-packed sufganiyot crawl to highlight some of New York’s Jewish bakeries ahead of Chanukah – and eat some delicious jelly doughnuts. I believe that food is a powerful vehicle for bridging cultural divides. As CEO of JCRC-NY, my goal for today’s event was to use sufganiyot to foster better understanding of Jewish identity, values, and Chanukah tradition. We achieved just that. Thank you to the Brooklyn Borough President, the wonderful bakeries we visited, and all of the amazing people at WIN for participating,” said Mark Treyger, CEO of JCRC-NY.
