Dining Out NYC is New York City's permanent outdoor dining program. Beginning in March, restaurants and cafés around the city will be able to apply for outdoor dining outside their establishments.
To this end, the city has provided four models for proposed dining structures. While restaurants can independently build any design of their liking—as long as it adheres to the new rules—the city will is highlighting optional design solutions meant to make the participation process easier for business owners.
The city has set up one sample of each of the respective designs outside establishments in different locations around the city.
The requirements for how sidewalk and roadway cafes are designed, built, and operated are available on New York City's Dining Out NYC website.
