Discharge of Radioactive Nuclear Wastewater Into Hudson River Banned

by M.C. Millman

After months of controversy, as reported by Rockland Daily here, the machlokes is now water under the bridge after Governor Kathy Hochul signed the "Save the Hudson" bill today to ban the discharge of treated radioactive wastewater into the Hudson River from the decommissioned nuclear plant.

The signed legislation, passed in June by both the Senate and Assembly, puts a halt to Holtec International’s planned fall discharge of more than 1 million gallons of treated wastewater into the Hudson River. It is a result of the pushback and protests from thirty-five Hudson River locations, more than 130 groups, and 500,000 people.
