DOT to Suspend Alternate Side Parking Every Tisha B’Av
By Yehudit Garmaise
Alternate Side Parking (ASP) will be suspended on Tisha B’av, thanks to the hard work of Brooklyn Councilmembers Lincoln Restler (33rd District) and Kalman Yeger (44th District).
“Now the burden of moving cars on such a meaningful day has been removed,” Restler posted on X.
The new City law that requires the City’s Department of Transportation to suspend ASP has been long in coming: ever since former City Councilmember David Greenfield first introduced the idea ten years ago.
In addition to thanking Greenfield, who now is the CEO of the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, Restler thanked Council Speaker Adrienne Adams (28th District) and Council Member Selvena Brooks-Powers (31st District) “for moving this legislation forward,” and other community leaders, such as UJA Federation and JCC Williamsburg, “who pushed to get this done.”
“Honestly, good job,” one grateful New Yorker posted on X.
