Double-Tragedy Strikes Viznitzer Chassidus as Two of Its Young Perish in Horrific Accident

The joy of Zos Chanukah was turned to deep sadness as the news broke of a tragic accident on Route 6 that runs from the north to the south of Israel. It consumed the lives of two young Viznitzer Chassidim, Nosson Nota Rosenbaum and Chaim Wertheimer, z"l, who were returning from tefillah in Miron on this auspicious day.
First responders to the scene of the accident, which took place around 2:45 a.m, reported that there was nothing they could do to save the lives of the victims. The accident occurred near the intersection of Route 6 and Route 9, in the Chadera area. It seems that the driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a security barrier, crushing it instantly.
Eerily, the Viznitzer Rebbe, Rav Yisroel of Bnei Brak, who is the Rebbe of the two boys conducted a Zos Chanukah tish only hours before, at which he spoke about the ability to effect yeshu'os on this holy night.
"Seventy-seven years ago, my holy uncle, the Damesek Eliezer of Viznitz, brought about salvation for one of his chassidim who hadn't yet been blessed with children on this holy day. Five years ago we sang together the Lubavitcher niggun Podoh b'Sholom nafshi (associated with the release of the Ba'al Hatanya from prison) and later that day, Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin was released from prison," the Rebbe said.
"Today we are also in need of a yeshu'ah, and I am asking all of you to sing along with great emotion. Hopefully, we will be able to bring a yeshu'ah."
Sadly, it was not to be. Two of the Rebbe's chassidim perished only hours later, plunging the chassidus, and the rest of Klal Yisroel, into sadness and mourning.
