Embattled de Blasio Gives a Gift: 2 Weeks of No Alternate Side Parking

New York – Buffeted from all sides, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Sunday he’s offering New York City residents a gift as the city emerges from a historic three-month closure — no alternate side parking regulations for an additional two weeks.

“A lot has been happening this week, to say the least,” the mayor tweeted. “And we’re getting ready for a very big moment tomorrow as Phase One of the Re-Start begins. So I want to make life a little easier for all of us: Alternate Side Parking is cancelled tomorrow Mon June 8 thru Sun June 21.”

The city begins to the first of four stages of reopening on Monday. Each phase will be spaced by two weeks to ensure the coronavirus does not resurface.

The city had its first day in two months without Covid deaths last Wednesday.
