Eric Adams’ Lead Holds on the Third Day of Early Voting

Although Eric Adams trailed behind Andrew Yang until late in the mayoral campaigning, Brooklyn borough president has surged ahead to take a commanding lead, with 28% New Yorkers saying they will rank Adams first for the Democratic mayoral candidate for New York City, according to a Marist Poll.

In second and third place were both appointees of Mayor Bill de Blasio: former Sanitation Commissioner Katherine Garcia, who came in second with 19% of New Yorkers’ support, and Maya Wiley, who served as a legal advisor to the mayor, who received 17% of New Yorkers’ votes.

Yang, who once looked confident and ebullient on the campaign trail, has dropped considerably to fourth place, with 15% of New Yorkers’ support.

Wallowing in the single digits were New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, who had 8% of New Yorkers’ support and Dianne Morales, a non-profit executive and Ray McGuire, the longest tenured head of investment banking in the history of Wall Street, who both tied with 4%.

Shaun Donovan, who served as the commissioner of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development under former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, fell into last place with 3% of New Yorkers’ support.
