Exclusive: Brazen Thieves Break Into Vehicle Making Off With Property Worth Thousands of Dollars

A visit from Eretz Yisroel that was drawing to an end today came to an unhappy conclusion when the visitor was making some final purchases in Boro Park.

After dropping off a few items in the trunk of his car parked on Thirteenth Avenue and 49th Street, the visitor tells Boro Park 24 that he headed off to do a few more last-minute errands.

Within minutes, two thieves smashed the window of his car. Witnesses who saw the thieves break the windows and subsequently grab what they could from inside led to several calls notifying Shomrim of Boro Park of the incident. In the meantime, the pair fled down Fourteenth Avenue lugging two heavy suitcases between them.

Shomrim caught up with the thieves at Fourteenth Avenue, but they fled in a car parked there and managed to shake off their tail.

Shomrim notified NYPD of the incident.

When filing his police report, the victim listed thousands of dollars worth of items he had lost, including his shtreimel, bekeshe, sefarim, and other various and sundry valuables.

The robbery is still under investigation, but the distraught victim was at least able to take his flight home, albeit sans luggage.
