FBI and NYPD to Provide Massive Presence at Siyum Hashas
Rutherford, NJ – Coming amid an unprecedented spate of anti-Semitic violence, law enforcement will be leaving nothing to chance at Wednesday’s massive Siyum Hashas a MetLife Stadium, where an estimated 100,000 Jews will form the largest gathering of Jews in U.S. history.
The FBI and NYPD will be assisting local law enforcement agencies with security at the 13th siyum hashas of daf yomi, whose main event will be in the New Jersey site along with a spillover location at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn.
“Everybody’s on edge,” a source told the New York Post. “There will be a heavy law-enforcement presence of both the FBI and police because of everything going on upstate and in Brooklyn.”
“We have planned and worked with law enforcement on this event for close to a year,” Rabbi Abe Friedman, a New Jersey State Police chaplain, told the Post. “The community is more concerned than ever due to the recent events, However, I am confident that it will be a safe event thanks to our friends in law enforcement.”
