FDNY Inspecting Stores: Fining Those Without Masks and Fire Extinguishers

FDNY Inspecting Stores: Fining Those Without Masks and Fire Extinguishers

By Yehudit Garmaise

A 13th Ave. Boro Park business owner was fined an unknown amount of money this morning after a member of the New York Fire Department walked into his store for an unannounced inspection.

The fire inspector said that he was checking to see whether store owners have portable fire extinguishers in proper working order and whether employees are wearing masks.

For violating both offenses, which are violations of New York City laws, the store owner received a summons to appear at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings in October.

The summons warns recipients that whoever fails to respond will be subject to penalties decided and imposed by the city.
