A fire broke out Sunday afternoon on the top floor of a three-story home on 48th Street, between 14th and 15th Avenue.
The FDNY responded quickly and worked to contain the blaze, which caused heavy damage to the house and surrounding property. The fire was eventually brought under control.
One firefighter was injured during the response and taken to the hospital. No civilian injuries were reported.
Chaveirim volunteers were on scene as well, helping to pack up the family’s valuable belongings. Despite the destruction, their efforts helped save what they could from the damaged home.
