Former Novominsk and Bobov Cheider Site to Become New Bobov Chesed Complex

A piece of Boro Park history has come down as the longtime building at 47th Street and 16th Avenue, most recently home to Bobov's Talmud Torah Bnei Zion and previously the Novominsker Yeshiva, was recently demolished to make way for a major new community project.

The structure, which stood for nearly 100 years, was already prominently featured in historic photographs of New York City dating back to the 1940s, where it can be seen standing tall among the neighborhood's early landmarks. For generations, the building served as a center of Torah and chinuch, educating thousands of students and becoming a familiar sight to residents of the area.

With the recent relocation of Talmud Torah Bnei Zion to its new state-of-the-art campus on 36th Street, the site has now entered a new chapter.

The Bobov Mosdos have announced plans to construct a brand-new "Building of Chesed" on the property, a project designed to serve a wide range of communal and charitable needs.

Among the planned features are several smaller simcha halls that will be available at affordable rates through the community's 'Chaim Shel Shalom' initiative, helping families celebrate simchos with dignity while minimizing expenses.

The new facility will also house offices for various Bobov-affiliated chesed organizations, creating a centralized location for many community services. In addition, a dedicated hachnosas orchim department will be established to assist the many guests who travel to spend time in the court of the Rebbe shlit"a throughout the year.

The project will include additional facilities and resources aimed at strengthening the operations of both the kehillah and the mosdos while expanding their ability to serve families and individuals in need.
