Four Arrested Following Mail Theft in Boro Park

Four Arrested Following Mail Theft in Boro Park

By BoroPark24 Staff

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, sharp-eyed Shmira volunteers played a key role in foiling a major mail theft operation in the neighborhood.

A volunteer on patrol first spotted four suspicious individuals lingering near a USPS mailbox. He quickly alerted the Shmira Crime Operations Center, where volunteers immediately began tracking the suspects’ movements on surveillance cameras.

The suspects were followed until they reached 13th Avenue and 60th Street, where they were observed tampering with a mailbox and removing mail. Shmira coordinated closely with officers from the NYPD’s 66th Precinct, who swiftly moved in and placed all four individuals under arrest.

Police impounded the suspects’ vehicle, which was filled with stolen mail.

This arrest comes amid a recent spike in mail thefts in Boro Park, where thieves have been targeting USPS drop-off and mail boxes.
