Free AirTrain Trips This Summer?
By Idy Perl
Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton announced that the AirTrain stops at JFK Airport might be free this summer to incentivize passengers to use mass transit, as reported by Gothamist
JFK will be seeing the construction of two new terminals this summer, which is bound to create traffic with the expected crowds of people who will be traveling. NYC still remembers the gridlock that La Guardia experienced in 2016 when they were doing construction, and JFK wants to avoid a repeat of that.
“We’re going to consider every option,” Cotton told Gothamist in regard to free AirTrain tickets. “We’re going to watch over the early parts of the summer peak and if we need to take more aggressive action, we will.”
