Gemilas Chessed: Lehisaneg to Deliver Cheesecake Packages and Simchas Yom Tov to 150 Heimishe Families who are Experiencing Illness

Thanks to Lehisaneg, 150 families who are experiencing illness will receive beautiful packages filled with large deluxe cheesecakes, cheese blintzes, coffee, chocolates, nuts, and a thoughtful poem with words of chizzuk.

“At the top of the packages we also attach a note that says, ‘Just to let you know we are thinking about you,” says Sholi Rosenblum of Boro Park, who partnered with his friend Sruli Glassman to deliver food packages every Erev Yom Tov, since Chanukah 2017, when they started out with 75.

The original idea, however, was dreamt by Sholi’s younger brother, Alexander Zisha Rosenblum, a Tantzer volunteer who loved doing chesed and always wanted to do more.

While driving back to Boro Park from a Tantzers event in Monsey after Sukkos 2017, sadly, yungerman Alexander Zisha ben Aliza was involved a terrible car accident on the Palisades Interstate Parkway that tragically left him in such critical condition that he is still in need of a refuah shelamah.

“The night of the accident, as a zchus for my brother’s refuah shelmah, I and my dear friend Sruli decided to start giving out packages to families who are struggling with illnesses,” Rosenblum remembered.

“We started off giving out, every week, a few packages in Boro Park and Flatbush, but now we are giving out every year close to 1,000 packages to families who also live in Monsey, Crown Heights, Williamsburg, and Staten Island,” said Sholi.

Additionally, every erev Shabbos, Lehisaneg delivers beautiful candy platters to lift the spirits of up to 20 Israeli families, who are staying in Boro Park while family members receive medical treatment.

“The kids always come running to the door with excitement when we arrive and say they look forward to it every time,” says Glassman. “You have no idea how these packages brighten Yom Tov for families who are experiencing illness.

“You would never think that a little cheesecake could do so much, but you have no idea how much simchas Yom Tov it brings.”
