Gerer Rebbe, shlit”a, Sends Delegation to Comfort Boro Park Family who Lost son in Meron Tragedy
As boropark24 has reported, the tragedy of Meron hit close to
home—right in the heart of Boro Park—as the recently-engaged Pinchos Menachem
Knoblovitz, z”l, was sadly among the victims in Meron. “Aside from his ehrlichkeit
and other qualities, Pinchos Menachem was filled with life… and always had a
group of chevra around him,” recalled a pained acquaintance.
His family
has had to face the incomprehensible, shocking change from joy for an upcoming
wedding… to the unimaginable news of their beloved son’s ascension to the
yeshiva shel ma’alah, along with 44 other pure neshamos.
The
Knoblovitz family are ardent Gerer chassidim, and thus, on Wednesday
morning, Rav Shloime Tzvi Alter, the son and special emissary of the Gerer
Rebbe, shlit”a, arrived in America especially to deliver words of
comfort to the family. He was joined by a son in law of the Gerer Rebbe, Rav
Shimon Rothstein, who learned in yeshiva together with the father of the
niftar, Reb Duvid Knoblovitz, sheyichye.
The two had
been scheduled to arrive after Shabbos, but especially moved up their visit, so
they could bring some measure of comfort to the family.
The
delegation spent close to two hours in the home, almost an eternity by Gerer
standards, and they related the incredibly deep pain that was felt by the Gerer
Rebbe in the aftermath of the tragedy. “There Rebbe was beside himself, and
rarely spoke the entire Shabbos, except to say: ‘What can I possibly say, my
heart hurts.’”
The air in
the room was thick as Reb Duvid opened the envelope with a letter from the
Rebbe, who had also phoned the day before, in which he writes: “May the great
Healer of all broken hearts heal your suffering, and strengthen you. May He
grant you only good for all of your days, and may all the dinim turn to
compassion. May your son be a meilitz yosher for you, and petition On High for
your good.”
