Governor Cuomo announced on Friday morning that New York State has surpassed the 100,000 mark in its confirmed cases of Covid-19. He also noted the tragic death toll of close to 3,000 New Yorkers who have lost their lives in this pandemic.

As of 12:00 am Friday morning 2,935 New Yorkers died of Coronavirus. What makes this such a striking number is that it means 562 deaths—1/6 of all deaths to date—in just the last 24 hours, the single largest jump in cases since the beginning of the crisis.

The 102,863 cases in New York means that the state accounts for 40% of cases nationwide.
