Last week, the Boro Park community lost a towering pillar to Torah and yiras Shomayim with the passing of Reb Asher Anschel Reinitz, z”l, at the age of 69. The niftar was a lifelong Boro Park resident.
He was a descendant and namesake of the Menuchas Asher of Tchenger, a direct descendant, ben achar ben, of his son-in-law, Rav Yehoshua Reinitz.
In his youth, he attended the Stoliner Yeshiva in Boro Park, where he absorbed ahavas haTorah for life. He would maintain relationships with many of his chaverim from yeshiva for his entire life.
BoroPark24 spoke with a nephew of the niftar, who related that “he was a He was a mushlam in Torah, yiras shamayim, and middos tovos.”
He related that Reb Asher Anshil was a tremendous masmid who was always learning. “It was his entire life, in all situations. We would learn together on the phone and many times he would be in bed without the sefer in front of him and we would read it—but he always corrected us if we skipped something or made a mistake,” he recalled.
He was extremely sensitive to people's feelings. If he felt he said something that could possibly hurt someone's feelings it would bother him for days afterwards… “A number of times he would call me day later to make sure one of my children weren't insulted, even when they were very little,” his nephew recalled. He would also seek out the struggling bachurim to give them chizuk, and thus left an impact on many people.
Reb Asher Anschel always did everything with humility and hatzneiah leches—it was something he learned from his father—but those who knew him appreciated his great caliber and his love for Torah.
He was unwell in recent years, but nevertheless continued to learn Torah with mesirus nefesh.
He was niftar last week, and was interred in Eretz Yisroel.
Yehi zichro baruch.
