It's Primary Day!
New York State and local primary elections take place today. NYC voters will vote for governor, lieutenant governor, state assembly, and judges. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Governor Candidates
There are three Democrat candidates for governor: N.Y. Gov. Kathy Hochul, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.), and four Republican candidates: Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.), Andrew Giuliani, Harry Wilson, and Rob Astorino.
Lieutenant Governor Candidates
Regarding lieutenant governor, three Democrats are running for this position following the federal indictment and resignation of former Lt. Gov. Brain Benjamin. He was accused of misusing campaign funds and bribery only months after being selected by Hochul. The three candidates are Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, progressive advocate Ana Maria Archila, and former New York City Council Member Diana Reyna. As the lone candidate for the Republican party's nomination, Alison Esposito is running unopposed. There is no Republican primary for lieutenant governor.
U.S. Senate
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is running unopposed in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, as is Joe Pinion, who is running in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.
Attorney General
Sitting Attorney General Letitia James is running unopposed in the Democratic primary for attorney general, as is Michael Henry, a Queen's attorney, running in the Republican primary for attorney general.
State Comptroller
Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, entering his 15th year in office, is running unopposed in the Democratic primary for state comptroller, as is Paul Rodriguez, a Wall Street veteran, running in the Republican primary for state comptroller.
District Leader
David Schwartz is running as the incumbent, against Pinny Ringel, an Assistant Commissioner under former Mayor Bill de Blasio.
