Jewish Askanim Join NYC Community Leaders In Rallying Behind Mayor Adams

In a statement released yesterday, Governor Hochul unofficially insinuated that she might be removing Mayor Eric Adams from his post as his administration sees yet more resignations.
Religious leaders from various communities are rallying behind the Mayor in a published statement. and are urging Governor Hochul not to remove the mayor from office.
“Four years ago, New Yorkers elected the second African American mayor to lead our great city and in a few short months, millions of New Yorkers will have the opportunity to re-evaluate their decision by casting a vote in the Democratic Primary election,” the statement says. “To remove the Mayor now would disenfranchise those voters – both those in support of the Mayor and even those who may oppose him- of the chance to have their voices heard in the most sacred of institutions; the ballot box.”
Among the leaders who signed the statement are numerous heimishe askanim, including:
• Rabbi Eli Cohen from Crown Heights,
• Abe Freidman from Satmar,
• Berish Freilich,
• Yoel Landau from UTA,
• Moshe Melamid from Bais Tzeporah,
• Chaim Fleisher from Bobov,
• Chaim Goldberger from Satmar BP,
• Efrayim Fink from Bnos Chaya,
• Shloime Weber from Pupa,
• Yoel Welz from Satmar Williamsburg,
• Joel Friedman from Kehilath Yakov,
• Moshe Indig from Satmar,
• Liaison Abraham Rosenberg
• Avi Gruenstein from BPJCC
