Lee Zeldin Launches NY Charity

Zeldin Cares, a volunteer-based charitable group launched by Lee Zeldin, will raise funds to address homelessness and food insecurity, help bolster veterans services, provide youth mentoring, improve blighted buildings, parks, and streets, and accelerate economic development in impoverished neighborhoods.

Zeldin said he got the idea while visiting disadvantaged communities during his campaign for governor and hearing over and over how those communities felt neglected by politicians from both political parties.

Zeldin Cares will help provide extracurricular activities for the underserved. Zeldin Care volunteers also will deliver meals to elderly home-bound individuals through Meals on Wheels. The non-profit is also working with an apparel company to design jackets to distribute that will keep homeless people warmer during the winter months.

"We don't have to be in a position of power to make a difference," Zeldin said during an interview with the New York Post. "We don't have to wait for the government to get something done."
