Legendary Food Manufacturer Recalls Product—“Can Potentially Explode.”

As Pesach is bearing down, and the challenges of preparing for Yom Tov are higher than normal, stores and customers are having to dispose of an item already on shelves.

Lieber’s Kosher Food Monday issued an immediate recall of their “Crushed Tomato with Basil, bearing the code: QA BBD 01/29/23—which, “can expand and potentially explode.”

The company asks their retailers to immediately take the cans off their shelves and to notify customers who may have already purchased it, offering a full refund for any lost merchandise.

The company clarified that the actual contents of the can are fine (so, if it was already used, one need not worry about contamination). Only, there was a faulty method of canning for this run only.
