Lights, Cameras… Tickets? Boro Park Streets Fill With New Traffic Cameras
By Y.M. Lowy
Several new black cameras appeared around Boro Park recently. Workers at the sites told BoroPark24 that the devices are red light cameras currently being programmed and could be activated later today.
Installations have been spotted so far at New Utrecht Avenue and 45th Street, 14th Avenue and 60th Street, 17th Avenue and 59th Street, and 65th Street and 21st Avenue.
The cameras are part of the city’s ongoing effort to expand automated traffic enforcement, but the sudden rollout has caught many by surprise. Crews were seen wiring and testing the new systems throughout the morning, and more locations could follow in the coming days.
BoroPark24 will continue monitoring the rollout and update readers as the cameras go up.
