LinkNYC Tower Appears in Boro Park for First Time
After skipping the neighborhood for years, a LinkNYC device appeared on Friday on Fort Hamilton Parkway near 45th Street.
The LinkNYC, a replacement to the old pay phones that used to be stationed along city blocks, is an all-in-one tower that offers free public Wi-Fi, phone calls, device charging, and a tablet for access to city services, maps and directions.
LinkNYC is completely free as it’s funded through advertising, brining revenue of millions of dollars to NYC.
A dedicated red 911 button can be pushed in the event of an emergency that’ll reach first responders.
The tower that appeared on Fort Hamilton Parkway looks different than the other ones that are stationed around NYC, it remains to be seen what additional features it’ll offer.
