Longer Days ahead with Daylight Saving Time starting Sunday
If the long dark winter nights were wearing you down, you can now look forward to Sunday at 2:00 am when the clock will be moved forward, bringing longer, brighter days to Boro Park.
Daylight saving time is the practice of advancing clocks during warmer months so that darkness falls at a later clock time which saves energy.
The idea was presented by Benjamin Franklin in the 1700s but only went into effect in the early 1900s.
Although studies have shown that longer days can promote better brain health, other studies have shown that the time change twice a year can disrupt sleep patterns which can have negative effects on brain health.
The issue remains controversial and some experts wonder if it is still beneficial in any way.
