Macy’s to Close 66 Stores Including Brooklyn Location

By Y.M. Lowy
Macy’s has announced it will close 66 stores across the country. Seven locations in the tri-state area will close, including three on Long Island, two in Brooklyn, one in The Bronx, and one in New Jersey.
According to Macy’s, the decision is based on underperformance. The company plans to focus its energy and resources on more successful locations and its growing digital marketplace by closing these stores.
Macy’s will be hosting major clearance sales. Department store sales kick off in January, running for 8-12 weeks, while Macy’s Backstage and Furniture Galleries will roll out their discounts in February, lasting about six weeks.
As Macy’s looks ahead to a new chapter, customers are invited to take advantage of the final sales and say farewell to their local stores.
