MTA Honors U.S. Veterans with Iconic MetroCard for Veteran’s Day

By Yehudit Garmaise

Starting tomorrow, Nov. 6, patriotic MetroCard users can purchase one of the 50,000 special-edition MetroCards that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has created, in honor of Veteran’s Day, on Nov. 11, to honor the current and former members of U.S. Armed Forces.

MTA customers who would like to purchase the MetroCards that pay tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our country, can pick up the beautifully designed cards that depict saluting soldiers in front of the Manhattan skyline at MetroCard vending machines at the following locations: Brooklyn’s Crown Height-Utica Avenue and Atlantic Avenue Barclays Center stations, Queens’ Flushing-Main Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal, The Bronx’s Third Avenue-149th Street, Staten Island’s St. George Ferry Terminal, and at Manhattan’s 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal and at Grand Central-42nd St.

“We are so proud to honor the veterans who serve our country in the military,” said Sarah Feinberg, the interim president of NYC Transit. “It is important for our riders to remember the sacrifices of the veterans among us, including those who now help keep the city moving during the COVID-19 pandemic as transit workers.”
