MTA Reduced Fare Cards for Seniors and Those With Disabilities Available in Boro ParkToday

The MetroCard mobile sales vehicle is available today on 13th Avenue and 51st Street to assist seniors and those with disabilities who want to apply for the MTA reduced fare card. 

The initiative spearheaded by Senator Simcha Felder usually takes place every other month, bringing the convenience of the MetroCard mobile sales vehicles to Boro Park. The mobile sales vehicles' regular routes are located too far out of the way for most Boro Parkers to benefit from. Having the vehicles come to Boro Park every two months is a tremendous help to Boro Parks seniors and those with disabilities. 

"The MetroCard bus offers services that people find very helpful, especially seniors who qualify for reduced fare MetroCards. This is a one-stop-shop," Senator Felder explains to BoroPark 24. "Just bring your government-issued ID and Medicare card, and they walk you through the application, take your photograph and give you a temporary card to use immediately while you wait for your permanent card to come in the mail."

MetroBus staff provide assistance and answer any questions you have about your MetroCard, including the following supportive services:

• One-stop application assistance for Senior MetroCard

• Purchase or add funds to MetroCards

• Exchange a damaged Senior MetroCard

• Transfer funds from a damaged full-fare MetroCard

• Report a lost or stolen Senior MetroCard

"People are always telling me how pleasant the MetroBus staff are and how easily their MetroCard issues were resolved. I am happy that I can make life a little easier for people by providing these services close to home in the heart of Boro Park and Flatbush," Senator Felder says.
