New $4.2 Billion Terminal at New York's JFK Airport Gets Go-Ahead From FAA

On Thursday, November 17, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted final environmental approval to begin construction next year of the new $4.2 billion Terminal 6 at JFK International Airport.
The new 1.2 million-square-foot, 10-gate terminal at JFK. terminal will house JetBlue and Lufthansa flights. It will be built in two phases. The first of the additional ten new gates is expected to open in 2026.
Some of the improvements the new terminal will boast include touchless technology from check-in to gate, floor-to-ceiling windows, high ceilings, and reduced traffic congestion. A new taxi plaza and designated pick-up area for Uber, Lyft, and other hired ride services will be shared with Terminal 5. There will also be over 100,000 square feet of shopping and dining, public art by New York artists, and depictions of New York landmarks.
The new terminal is expected to be completed in 2028.
