New Study Ranks NYC Cleaner Than Expected

New Study Ranks NYC Cleaner Than Expected

By Y.M. Lowy

A new study says New York City is cleaner than many people believe. The report ranked NYC as the 17th dirtiest city in the U.S., behind places like Los Angeles, Boston, and even Buffalo.

The study looked at 311 complaints about trash and recycling over the last year. Roosevelt Island had the fewest trash complaints, while Crown Heights had 28 times more.

Baltimore was ranked the dirtiest city, followed by Sacramento and Charlotte. NYC is still cleaner than Miami, San Francisco, and Austin.

City officials say their efforts to clean up are working, with fewer rats spotted in recent months.
