This Sunday morning, November 5, tens of thousands of runners will participate in the annual New York City marathon. The NYPD says an estimated 50,000 people are expected to run in the race, while more than a million people watch from the sidelines.

The upper level of the Verrazano Bridge will be closed from 11:00 the night before, until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Other road closures along the route will begin at 6:45 on Sunday morning and reopen gradually, beginning at 1:15 all the way to 6:30 in some places.

With tensions rising around the globe, the NYPD is taking extra precautions, screening all the runners and their belongings before the beginning of the race, and there will be hundreds of cameras along the route. The police also asked that the public report any suspicious activity immediately.
