New York State Police Steps Up Presence at Key Jewish Locations
Just days after the stabbing attack in Monsey, NY and following the recent drastic increase in Hate Crimes targeting Orthodox Jews in and around New York City, State Troopers were seen standing guard outside key Jewish locations across the State.
Local elected officials have called on Gov. Cuomo to send State Troopers to assist in providing security to the Jewish community.
“We are writing to ask that you declare a state of emergency and that you deploy the New York State Police and the New York National Guard,” Senator Simcha Felder, Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein and Council Members Kalman Yeger and Chaim Deutch, wrote in a letter addressed to the Governor.
Gov. Cuomo thanked the New York State Police for their deployment. “New York State stands with the Jewish community during this difficult time and we will do everything in our power to keep them safe,” the Governor tweeted.
Thank you, @NYSPolice Troopers who are deployed in Jewish neighborhoods across the state.
