Newark Airport to Close Thursday Afternoon for Private Planes

Please be advised that Newark International Airport will be closed to private planes from 12:15 to 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Non-commercial aircraft will not be allowed to land or take off from the airport without prior approval from the FAA.

The closure is due to construction on fixed-base operators at the airport, which cater to private aircraft.

It's possible that JFK and LaGuardia may experience ground stops or delays later in the day too.
