Newark Liberty Airport's Terminal A Scheduled to Open Next Week

By Mindy Cohn

Newark Liberty Airport's $2.7 billion newly rebuilt Terminal A will open next week on Thursday, January 12, a little more than a month behind the original schedule, as reported in BoroPark24 here.

"The Port Authority is pleased to announce that the first flights in and out of Newark Liberty's new, world-class Terminal A will commence on January 12," authority spokesperson, Tom Pietrykoski, shared in a statement.

The original opening date of Thursday, December 8, was pushed off after the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey declared that the terminal's fire and security systems required more testing.

The first 21 gates opening include United Airlines, JetBlue, Air Canada, and American Airlines. Twelve more gates, including Delta, are slated to open later this year.
