NY State DMV Redesigns Driver and Non-Driver ID cards for Security Purposes
The New York Department of Motor Vehicles is redesigning driver’s licenses, non-driver’s licenses, and permits for security purposes.
The new design will make it more difficult for counterfeiters to tamper with or forge false cards, the DMV said.
The new card will have embossed text and images that can be felt and the motorist's photo will now display their birth month and year when viewed at a different angle.
The clear windows within the document and the state seal have also been redesigned using a process called multiple laser imaging.
Those who apply for or renew their license as of March 10 will receive the updated card.
