NYC Delays Public Schools' In-Class Reopening by Ten Days

New York City and the United Federation of Teachers Union are delaying NYC public schools' in-class reopening by ten days from the original date, September 11 to September 21, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday.

All 1.1 million city children will begin school remotely on September 16. When school buildings finally reopen, students will return with a blended learning program, a mixture of weekly in-person and online classes.

This delay provides more time to prepare as anxious parents, school leaders, and city officials raise alarms for in-person class readiness.
