NYPD Commissioner Shea Blames City's Gun Violence Spike on NY Legislators

According to the NYPost, on Monday, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea blamed the slowdown of cops in NYC on legislators' police cuts and legal reforms.

Shea is furious by accusations blaming him for the police's slowdown. He said the NYPD was doing everything they could to try and tackle the spike in gun crime.

He confirmed that he even cut officers' weekends off but said there are too many criminals able to escape strict sentences and not enough officers to police the streets. He is pleading with legislators to reconsider NYPD reforms.

"The men and women of this police department are out there, they care deeply about what happens on the streets in New York City, and they and they continue to be out there running towards danger," Shea said.
